The Academy of Korean Studies announced on the 30th that Kim Nak-nyeon, Professor Emeritus of Economics at Dongguk University, has been appointed as the new president. The term is three years.
President Kim is an economic expert who has served as chairman of the Nakseongdae Institute of Economic Research and president of the Economic History Society. He graduated from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo in Japan. From 1982 to 1988, he worked as a researcher at the Korea Development Institute (KDI), and from 1993 to 2021, he served as a professor in the Department of Economics at the College of Social Sciences, Dongguk University. His publications include "History of Korean Economic Growth," "Korea's Long-term Statistics I & II," and "Korean Economic Growth 1910-1945."
