This youth camp is designed to discover outstanding talent in the field of supercomputing and foster the next generation of scientists. Since its launch in 2015, the camp celebrates its 8th anniversary this year, with 199 teams from high schools nationwide applying to participate. Of these, 30 teams have been selected, with a total of 90 students taking part.

After learning about parallel computing application technologies, students will have hands-on experience with the entire process of implementing artificial intelligence (AI). There will also be a team-based competition to solve parallel computing and AI challenges. The results of the tasks will be comprehensively evaluated, with awards given to outstanding students to encourage their achievements.

Various lectures have been prepared to spark students' interest in science. Special lectures include: "Utilizing AI in the League of Legends e-sports market" by Professor Kim Jooyeon of UNIST; "Artificial Intelligence and Recommendation Technology: The Journey of AI Understanding My Preferences" by Professor Lee Yeonchang of UNIST; and "Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Everyday Life" by Professor Lee Haeyoon of Korea University of Technology and Education. These lectures are expected to provide new experiences for the youth participants.

Yoo Chunsang, Director of the UNIST Supercomputing Center, stated, "We hope that through this camp, participating students will experience the potential of supercomputing and grow into the next generation of science talent."

UNIST and KISTI, in cooperation with the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education, have been operating the "Winter Vacation AI Team Project Supercomputing Youth Camp" since 2024 to foster Ulsan-type digital talent. UNIST continues to contribute to nurturing supercomputing talent in the local community.
