The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service (hereinafter referred to as KACES) announced on the 29th that they will conduct the ‘2024 International Children and Youth Arts Education Workshop’ project; Hand - ? LA MAIN (Workshop).
The workshop will begin on the 30th. Twenty participating children and youth will perform a joint Korea-France performance at the Korea House ‘Korea Day’ event, which promotes Korean culture, on August 1st.
Korean children and youth dancers selected through a prior public recruitment have been preparing for the workshop and performance through rehearsals starting in June, while French children and youth began rehearsals in July in their respective countries. In particular, the Korean dancers consist of 10 elementary school students participating in the representative cultural arts education project ‘Dream Dance Troupe,’ selected from seven regions nationwide.
KACES aims to provide an opportunity for Korean and French children and youth to interact and experience artistic achievement and multifaceted growth through this workshop.
The Korea House performance will be held during the ‘Korea Day’ event, which showcases the beauty and contemporary culture and arts of Korea. Eun-mi Ahn, the dance director of the ‘Dream Dance Troupe’ in Gwanak, has been appointed as the artistic director to prepare a stage that embodies the Olympic spirit and the purpose of the ‘Dream Dance Troupe.’
This performance, inspired by the Paris Olympics, conveys the meanings of diversity, openness, harmony, and peace. In particular, it takes the 1988 Seoul Olympic slogan ‘Hand in Hand’ and the Olympic rings as performance motifs. The performance plans to transcend race, language, culture, and region.
