'100mm per hour deluge' hits Honshu, Japan... At least 1 dead, 3 missing
On the 26th, Tozawa Village in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, was flooded due to heavy rain. On this day, Yamagata Prefecture experienced torrential rain reaching 100mm per hour, prompting a special heavy rain warning to be issued.

Record-breaking heavy rain caused by the rainy season front has poured over Yamagata and Akita prefectures in the northeastern part of Honshu, Japan, resulting in at least one death and three people missing, according to major Japanese newspapers on the 26th.
Shinjo City in Yamagata Prefecture recorded 389 mm of rainfall over 24 hours until 9 a.m. that day, and Kitaakita City in Akita Prefecture also received 245.5 mm of rain in one day.
Evacuation orders were issued for some areas in Yamagata and Akita prefectures.
As of 11 a.m. that day, Yomiuri reported that about 180 buildings were flooded.
The Shinkansen high-speed train line between Yamagata and Shinjo was not in operation all day.

The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasted that up to 120 mm of additional rain could fall in the Tohoku region, which includes Yamagata and Akita prefectures, until 6 a.m. on the 27th.
