Former Lawmaker Im Jong-seong Accused of Bribery Granted Bail with Electronic Monitoring Condition

Former Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Lim Jong-seong, who is on trial for receiving bribes worth hundreds of millions of won from companies located in his electoral district, has been released on bail.
On the 26th, the Criminal Division 12 of the Seoul Eastern District Court (Chief Judge Lee Jeong-hyung) approved Lim's bail request on the 24th. Lim had applied for bail on the 13th of last month due to health reasons.
The court ordered Lim to pay a deposit of 30 million won and submit a written pledge as conditions for bail. Additional conditions included restrictions on residence, prohibition of contact with persons related to the case, a ban on leaving the country without court permission, and the attachment of an electronic monitoring device.

Lim was indicted on charges of receiving bribes worth approximately 115 million won from two companies located in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, his former electoral district, from November 2019 to May 2021 (violations of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes - bribery, the Political Funds Act, and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act).
