'Chaesangbyeong Special Prosecutor Law' Rejected with 194 in Favor, 104 Against... Heading Toward Disposal (Update)
The so-called 'Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act,' aimed at investigating the truth and allegations of investigation interference in the case of Chae Sang-byeong, who died in the line of duty during the flood damage search operation last July, was finally rejected after a re-vote in the National Assembly plenary session on the 25th.
On the afternoon of the same day, the National Assembly held a vote on the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act in the plenary session, with a total of 299 members voting: 194 in favor, 104 against, and 1 abstention, resulting in the final rejection.
For a bill vetoed by the president to be passed upon re-vote, a majority of the total members must be present, and at least two-thirds (200 votes) of the members present must approve.
