Gurye-gun Dabin Food Bank Operations Committee Holds Meeting

Spreading Donation Culture and Building Healthy Local Communities

The "Gurye-gun Dabin Food Bank," operated by the Jeonnam Gurye Regional Self-Support Center, announced that it held the 2024 first half Gurye-gun Basic Food Bank Steering Committee meeting on the 23rd.

This steering committee was conducted to secure operational soundness through consultation on major projects and to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the business.

The Gurye-gun Dabin Food Bank provided donated food items such as staple and side dishes, snacks, and ingredients received from the Jeonnam Regional Food Bank, local companies, bakeries, and others to about 100 low-income vulnerable groups in need of food, including home welfare recipients, social welfare facilities, and local children's centers.

Through this steering committee, efforts were made to promote the Gurye-gun Dabin Food Bank through MOUs with local institutions and publicity to provide various benefits to low-income residents, find more donation sources, and facilitate information exchange and sharing.

Chairman Monk Woo Kyung (Saseongam General Affairs) said, "Through this steering committee, we will strive to create a healthy local community without welfare blind spots by spreading a donation culture that allows not only users receiving donated food but also donating companies to donate comfortably."

The Gurye Regional Self-Support Center (Director Yang Cheol-seung) currently has about 30 participants in eight project groups (GateWay Project Group, Rainbow Helper Project Group, Sarangchandeul Project Group, Jirisan Farmer Project Group, Sonnuri Project Group, Cafe Dre Project Group, Happy Environment Project Group, and Gotgani Nature Project Group). It operates a mobile welfare truck food bank and continues to play a role as a platform that provides new value and benefits to all self-support participants by positively influencing their lives through diligent efforts in self-support work, not only for economic independence but also for low-income residents in the region.
