The Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council announced on the 25th that the "Partial Amendment to the Basic Ordinance on Resource Circulation in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City," which was proposed by Councilor Kim Tae-jin (Progressive Party) during the 2nd plenary session of the 324th extraordinary meeting on the 23rd, was passed in the plenary session.
The ordinance was amended to allow the Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee to handle matters for deliberation and consultation that were previously under the Resource Circulation Committee, and to add discussions on "discovering major policies related to resource circulation" in the committee's deliberations, aiming to establish effective resource circulation activation policies at the Seo-gu level in response to the climate crisis.
In particular, the main content is the establishment of new provisions regarding the "establishment and functions of the committee," which includes the addition of discovering major policies related to resource circulation, such as operating resource circulation stores.
Councilor Kim said, "We reflected various voices from the field, including holding meetings, to amend the ordinance," and added, "We will continue to strive to ensure that Gwangju Seo-gu takes the lead in preparing effective policies to activate resource circulation."
