View original imagePresident Yoon Suk-yeol will visit the Czech Republic in September to discuss the construction of a new nuclear power plant and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Blue House announced that President Yoon spoke with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on the afternoon of the 23rd regarding this matter.
During the call, President Yoon expressed gratitude for Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power being selected as the preferred negotiator for the Czech nuclear power plant construction project and proposed jointly entering the global nuclear power market.
He also mentioned that a high-level government delegation had been dispatched that day to follow up on related measures.
Earlier, the Blue House had announced that a special envoy team consisting of Sung Tae-yoon, Chief of Policy Office at the Blue House, and Ahn Duk-geun, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, would be sent to the Czech Republic.
President Yoon emphasized, "This Czech nuclear power project will be an opportunity to significantly enhance the nuclear power capabilities of both countries. In this era of nuclear renaissance, let us join hands and advance into the global market together."
In response, Prime Minister Fiala congratulated President Yoon on Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power being selected as the preferred negotiator for the new Czech nuclear power plant and said, "The new nuclear power plant will be a crucial turning point for securing the Czech Republic's energy security and strengthening industrial competitiveness."
He also evaluated, "Through this cooperation, the strong strategic partnership between our two countries is expected to become even more solid."
President Yoon has accepted Prime Minister Fiala's invitation to visit the Czech Republic at a convenient time in September to discuss the successful advancement of the nuclear power project and ways to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
The specific schedule will be coordinated through diplomatic channels.
