Samsung Changwon Hospital Emerges as a Central Hub for Regional Patient Safety and Medical Quality Improvement
Designation of the 2nd Regional Patient Safety Centers
Sungkyunkwan University Samsung Changwon Hospital has been designated as the second-term Regional Patient Safety Center under the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
With this designation, Samsung Changwon Hospital will play a key role in enhancing patient safety and improving the quality of healthcare by leading education on patient safety incidents for hospitals and clinics in the Gyeongsang region.
The Regional Patient Safety Center serves as a partner to the Central Patient Safety Center in creating a safe medical environment. Its role is to effectively deliver and support policies such as activating the reporting of patient safety incidents and fostering a culture of patient safety in small and medium-sized medical institutions within the region. In other words, institutions with extensive experience and know-how in patient safety activities will transfer this expertise to local hospitals and clinics, creating synergy to strengthen patient safety capabilities.
Samsung Changwon Hospital plans to provide customized consulting for local hospitals, clinics, and networked medical institutions, including developing patient safety education programs, analyzing incidents, and establishing measures to prevent recurrence. In addition, the hospital will also promote activities to share information related to patient safety, raise awareness of incident reporting, and establish and improve a culture of patient safety.
Choi Youngcheol, head of the Regional Patient Safety Center at Samsung Changwon Hospital, stated, "The most important aspect of providing patient-centered medical services is patient safety. With this designation, we will further strengthen not only the quality of healthcare but also the prevention and response system for patient safety incidents in the region."
