Lotte Hotel & Resort Obtains International Eco-Friendly Certification for Three Jeju Properties
GreenKey, International Certification Awarded to Sustainable Facilities
Lotte Hotel & Resort announced on the 22nd that its three business sites located in Jeju (Lotte Hotel Jeju, Lotte City Hotel Jeju, Lotte Resort Jeju Art Villas) have obtained the international environmental certification program 'Green Key.'
Green Key is an international certification program awarded to facilities operating sustainably and environmentally friendly in the tourism and service industries, jointly operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). To obtain the certification, all 75 mandatory items across 13 categories, including carbon reduction eco-friendly management, water conservation, waste reduction, and energy saving, must be fully met.
A total of nine places in Jeju have received the Green Key certification. Among them, three are business sites of Lotte Hotel & Resort. Leveraging this certification as a stepping stone, Lotte Hotel & Resort plans to focus more on eco-friendly management activities and accelerate the implementation of measures to establish a sustainable management system.
Since last year, Lotte Hotel & Resort has been expanding related activities under the slogan 'RE:Think Journey.' They have been particularly committed to spreading a sustainable travel culture through initiatives such as the Green Stay campaign to reduce resource waste, establishing a circular resource system for used linens through business agreements with local ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) startups in Jeju, and a pledge campaign for eco-friendly travel culture. Internally, they have actively promoted awareness improvement by encouraging voluntary plogging activities and zero-waste efforts among employees.
