Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun: "Smooth and Swift Establishment of New Districts"
Gyeonggi-do Hwaseong City is set to intensify efforts to reorganize its administrative system to establish four new general districts ahead of its launch as a special city next year.
Hwaseong City recently prepared a district plan for the installation of four general districts and announced on the 19th that it will hold regional briefing sessions starting from the 24th.
Earlier, in April, the city established the 'Special City Promotion Team,' a dedicated organization for the installation of general districts, and conducted opinion gathering and research projects. The prepared district plan prioritizes residents' accessibility based on living zones and the efficiency of administrative service provision as the most important criteria. The city explained that it comprehensively reviewed ▲regional characteristics ▲development direction ▲similarities ▲regional identity ▲geographical and transportation conditions.
Looking at the district plan by region prepared by the city, ▲Region 1 includes Hyangnam-eup, Namyang-eup, Ujeong-eup, Jangan-myeon, Paltan-myeon, Songsan-myeon, Mado-myeon, Seosin-myeon, Yanggam-myeon, Saesol-dong ▲Region 2 includes Bongdam-eup, Bibong-myeon, Maesong-myeon, Jeongnam-myeon, Gibaedong ▲Region 3 includes Byeongjeom 1-dong, Byeongjeom 2-dong, Hwasan-dong, Banwol-dong, Jinan-dong ▲Region 4 includes Dongtan 1 to 9-dong.
At the briefing sessions, the city plans to gather opinions on the necessity of installing general districts, the district plan, and district names. The sessions will be held in the following order: on the 24th at the city hall auditorium, on the 29th at Hyupsung University Science and Engineering Building, on August 1st at the Workers' Welfare Center, and on August 7th at Dawon Eumteo.
The district names will be decided through procedures and methods that reflect residents' opinions as much as possible. After the briefing sessions, the city will go through the opinion hearing process with the city council and formally apply to Gyeonggi-do and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the establishment of the four district offices.
