The Air Force conducted a training exercise to rescue a pilot who made an emergency ejection at sea while performing a mission over the East Sea near Gangneung. The nighttime training involved 15 air rescuers from the 6th Search and Rescue Flight Squadron (hereafter 6th Squadron) and two search and rescue helicopters, HH-47 and HH-60. Sergeant Kim Sang-won (29), an air rescuer from the 6th Squadron who participated in the training, stated, "We repeatedly conduct realistic training to ensure that pilots, who are the core of the Republic of Korea's combat power, can be rescued and brought back no matter when or where they are stranded."
