Kim Du-gwan "Sympathizes with Unipolar System"... Lee Jae-myung "Belittles Party Members"
CBS Democratic Party Leadership Candidate Debate
Lee Jae-myung, the candidate challenging for re-election as the leader of the Democratic Party at the August 18 party convention, refuted the expression of a 'unipolar system' surrounding him. On the other hand, candidate Kim Du-kwan expressed concern, agreeing that it is indeed a unipolar system.
At the Democratic Party leader candidate broadcast debate held at the CBS studio in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, when asked whether he agreed with the expression that the current Democratic Party is a unipolar system, Kim Du-kwan responded, "I agree."
He emphasized, "The lifeblood of our party is dynamism and diversity. Many party members feel that the DNA of the Democratic Party is being significantly damaged." He added, "Due to the charisma and leadership of former President Kim Dae-jung, there was a monarchic general chairman system, but now I think many party members feel the same way about the Lee Jae-myung former leader system."

He said, "With a party member approval rating exceeding 80%, it cannot be called a unipolar system," and added, "It is not right to describe something based on the will of party members as a system." He explained, "It is desirable for an organization to have more people supported by more party members, but the expression of a unipolar system could belittle the choice of party members."
