50s Worker Falls and Dies After Being Hit by Metal Part at Gimpo Factory

A man in his 50s working at a factory in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, died after falling when struck by a metal part.
According to the Gimpo Police Station on the 17th, at around 1:20 p.m. on the 11th, a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, was hit in the face by a metal part at a machinery manufacturing factory in Daegot-myeon and fell about 3 meters. Mr. A suffered severe facial injuries and was transported to a hospital by the 119 emergency medical team for treatment, but he passed away three days later on the 14th.
Mr. A, a day laborer, was performing welding work on top of a large machine inside the factory when the metal part was ejected, causing the accident.

The police requested an autopsy of Mr. A’s body from the National Forensic Service and received a preliminary verbal report stating that "he is presumed to have died due to brain hemorrhage caused by a jaw fracture." A police official said, "We are investigating with the employment authorities whether the company complied with safety regulations."
