SK Shielders to Advance Unmanned Convenience Stores with GS Retail
Advancement of Unmanned Convenience Store System 추진
SK Shieldus announced on the 17th that it will advance the unmanned convenience store system in collaboration with GS Retail. The two companies recently agreed to jointly enhance the unmanned convenience store system in line with the trend of expanding hybrid unmanned stores, which are operated by staff during the day and unmanned at night.
First, to advance the unmanned convenience store system, they plan to utilize the infrastructure of GS25, Korea's leading convenience store brand, and SK Shieldus's security and unmanned capabilities. As the first step of the collaboration, they will develop and distribute a new access authentication device that improves the convenience of switching between manned and unmanned modes and enhances store operation efficiency.

When staff are working, it displays product promotional videos, and when switched to unmanned mode, it shows a screen indicating the access authentication method. The access authentication device, which previously only served a security role, now also implements marketing functions.
Additionally, various authentication methods have been introduced to the access authentication device to enhance convenience for visiting customers. Customers can enter the store by completing one of the authentication procedures: credit card, QR code, or safe call.
To strengthen security at hybrid unmanned convenience stores equipped with the new access authentication device, SK Shieldus will provide ADT Caps services as well. Through AI CCTV capable of detecting abnormal behavior and a 24-hour monitoring and dispatch system, they respond promptly if any issues arise in the store.
Furthermore, the two companies plan to jointly develop an unmanned system that combines advanced security technologies such as big data on store visitors and AI CCTV to provide differentiated experiences for store owners and customers.
