"Managing Tesla with Samsung SmartThings"... Energy Collaboration Kicks Off
Samsung Manages Tesla Solar and Battery with 'SmartThings'
Samsung Electronics has collaborated with Tesla to integrate Tesla's solar and battery products into the SmartThings Energy platform.
According to Samsung Electronics' SmartThings blog on the 17th, since the 22nd of last month, it has become possible to display information about Tesla's solar panels and Powerwall (home energy storage system) on the SmartThings Energy platform.
This collaboration is the first case utilizing Tesla's interface. Earlier, Samsung Electronics announced cooperation with Tesla through SmartThings Energy at CES 2024, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, in January.

Through this collaboration, users can monitor power consumption and easily control it using the SmartThings application (app).
Energy-related notifications can be received on Samsung Electronics TVs or mobile devices via the Tesla app, improving accessibility to solar power generation and energy usage data. Additionally, when linked with Tesla's 'Storm Watch' app, users can receive alerts on Samsung TVs or mobile devices during severe weather conditions such as typhoons or heavy snow.
Before or during a power outage, the SmartThings 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Saving Mode' operates to reduce power consumption of connected appliances, helping to extend Powerwall usage time. Furthermore, when solar and battery products are registered on SmartThings Energy, additional data regarding consumption, production, and battery levels can be provided.
Samsung Electronics explained that this collaboration was made because Tesla highly evaluated Samsung Electronics' competitiveness in smart home technology. Samsung Electronics views the cooperation with Tesla as an important opportunity for its energy management solutions to be utilized beyond home appliances in various fields.
