Hong Jun-pyo Targets Han Dong-hoon: "A Candidate Who Will Ruin Party-Government Relations... Should Not Become Leader"
"Cold-headed Choice Needed from Party Members"
Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, criticized Han Dong-hoon, the People Power Party's candidate for party leader, saying, "A candidate who will ruin the party and government should not become the party leader."
On the 16th, Mayor Hong pointed out on his Facebook, "Even though the Democratic Party of Korea achieved an overwhelming victory in the general election, some opinion polls show results trailing behind our party because it has been stigmatized as 'Lee Jae-myung's shield party.'"
He added, "But can our party also become a party that shields a specific candidate? In that sense, I actively support the content of Na Kyung-won's Facebook post today."
Earlier that day, candidate Na wrote on Facebook, "Han needed reflection, maturity, and patience," and "A candidate who should not have run, a candidate who should have been tolerated once, has brought too much confusion."
She continued, "Ahead of the party convention, Han's candidacy attracted attention, but those who know even a little about party affairs mostly thought, 'It would be better if he rested this time.' During the general election emergency committee chairmanship, the relationship between Han and President Yoon Seok-youl had already fallen into irreparable distrust and conflict. The moment Han becomes party leader, our conservatives will clearly become like two families under one roof, living separately," directly criticizing.

In response, Mayor Hong emphasized, "Even if the party and government unite to counter the opposition's violence, it will be difficult to break through, so a candidate who will ruin the party and government should not become the party leader," adding, "It is time for party members to make a sober choice."
