Suncheon City Hosts Special Lecture Inviting Animator from US Pixar Studio
Held on the 18th at Suncheonman International Wetland Center
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) announced that it will hold a special lecture on the 18th by inviting Kim Hye-sook, an animator from Pixar Studios, the world's most influential animation studio.
Senior animator Kim Hye-sook joined Pixar Studios in 2021 and has worked on globally beloved films such as "Inside Out 2," "Elemental," and "Buzz Lightyear."
Before joining Pixar, animator Kim worked on Korea's representative animations like "Pororo" and "Mini Force," and also participated in the American Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," bringing extensive global experience.
This invited lecture was arranged after Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu visited Pixar Animation Studios in the U.S. last November to plan the Korean version of K-Disney and established a connection with animator Kim Hye-sook.
Animator Kim plans to generously share with local aspiring animators her journey to the global stage, her experiences, storytelling techniques that maintain creativity, and strategies for building an international career.
Mayor Noh said, "To grow Suncheon into a cultural industry hub competing with the world's top cities, nurturing global talent is essential. This lecture was prepared with the hope that local youth can pursue their dreams on the world stage and design their futures."
He also emphasized, "We will firmly support our local students so that even if they do not go to the metropolitan area, they can fully realize their potential in Suncheon, the land of opportunity."
