Hwaseong-si Completes Inspection of Public Facility Safety and Health Implementation Status
456 Sites Conducted for Major Citizen Disaster Targets
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 16th that it has completed the first half safety and health compliance inspection of public facilities subject to major citizen disaster under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act over a period of about three months since April.
This safety inspection was conducted on a total of 456 locations, including 108 buildings subject to the Indoor Air Quality Control Act such as daycare centers, libraries, and welfare centers; 226 facilities subject to the Facility Safety Act such as bridges and tunnels; and 122 raw material manufacturing management facilities.

The city explained that, especially since the application of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act was expanded in January to workplaces with five or more employees, inspections were also conducted on 13 small-scale public offices under 3,000㎡ that were previously in legal blind spots.
The main inspection items included checking hazardous risk factors inside and outside facilities in fields such as architecture, fire safety, electrical, and mechanical equipment, as well as emergency preparedness drills and evaluations for potential risk factors. The city plans to do its best to establish a thorough safety and health system for major citizen disasters through systematic safety management by the facility management departments, including immediate corrective actions for any pointed-out issues.
Earlier, in January, the city also conducted safety inspections on 55 municipal senior citizen centers that were in the blind spots of disaster-vulnerable facilities under the Facility Safety Act.
