Park Ji-won: "'Mansayeongtong' Korea... Everything Connects If You Are the First Lady"
"Allegations of Handonghun's Comment Team Must Be Investigated"
Amid suspicions of an unofficial comment team operating around Han Dong-hoon, a candidate for the party leader, shaking the People Power Party's July 23 leadership election, Park Ji-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized, "Under President Yoon Suk-yeol, it has become a 'man-sa-yeong-tong' (everything goes smoothly)," adding, "Doesn't everything work if it's the First Lady?"
On the 15th, on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' Rep. Park said, "Candidate Han, who started the text message war, will be elected," and added, "'Kim Gun-hee as the campaign committee chairwoman, Yoon Suk-yeol as the vice chairman'?how could it not work?"
Regarding the party-government relationship if Candidate Han becomes party leader, he predicted, "They will take the path of coexistence." Rep. Park said the two likely hold each other's fatal weaknesses, stating, "Although they have conflicts, they won't fight." However, he also added, "If Candidate Han becomes party leader, he will capture public sentiment, which will be as painful as a toothache for President Yoon."
Regarding the so-called 'comment team controversy' sparked by text messages sent by Mrs. Kim to Candidate Han, he insisted, "It must be investigated." Rep. Park referred to the past National Intelligence Service comment scandal, saying, "At that time, Prosecutor Yoon Suk-yeol investigated the case, and I exposed the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office chief's obstruction of the investigation, which eventually led to the impeachment of former President Park Geun-hye," emphasizing, "If Han Dong-hoon's team also had a comment team, it must be investigated."
The unofficial comment team controversy has become one of the biggest issues in the People Power Party's leadership election phase. It began when Jang Ye-chan, a former Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, considered a pro-Yoon (pro-President Yoon Suk-yeol) figure, denied allegations that Mrs. Kim operated a comment team, instead raising suspicions that Candidate Han operated an unofficial public opinion formation team during his tenure as Minister of Justice. Recently, the full text of a message Mrs. Kim sent to Candidate Han in mid-January was revealed, and the controversy arose from Mrs. Kim mentioning a 'comment team' in the fourth message, which was a rebuttal to the allegations.
