"CCTV Shows Suspected Perpetrator" Habitual Thief Caught by Early Morning Patrol Police
A habitual thief was caught thanks to the keen observation of police officers on early morning patrol.
The Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul announced that they arrested a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges of habitual theft and nighttime residential burglary, and sent him to prosecution in custody on the 12th.
Mr. A is suspected of stealing packages about 10 times recently from stores and villas around Seodaemun-gu. He was caught on the morning of the 7th around 5 a.m. by two officers, including Police Officer Kim Jeonghan of the Chungjeongno Precinct, who were returning from handling another 112 emergency call while on patrol.
While patrolling, Officer Kim and his colleague recalled the appearance of a habitual theft suspect seen on closed-circuit television (CCTV) and noticed a man with a similar appearance quickly entering an alley. They conducted a stop-and-search and apprehended Mr. A.
Mr. A, who usually carried a backpack and a Boston bag, was found dressed similarly at the time of arrest. He resisted strongly without revealing his identity and tried to escape the scene but was arrested.

Upon searching his belongings, the police found two stolen packages and one mobile phone. Mr. A confessed to the crimes.
