National Heritage Cheong Collaborates with Tokyo Cultural Heritage Research Institute on Intangible Heritage Study
Research Exchange Agreement on Protection and Transmission
South Korea and Japan have joined hands to research intangible heritage.
On the 11th, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that on the 10th, it signed a business agreement with the Tokyo Cultural Heritage Research Institute in Tokyo, Japan, for "Korea-Japan research exchange on the protection and transmission of intangible heritage." Going forward, they will exchange the latest research cases and information in the field of intangible heritage through joint research and presentations, and promote exchanges among researchers. Research results will also be published together.
A representative from the Cultural Heritage Administration said, "We hope that the scope of research exchanges between the two countries will expand not only in academic research on intangible heritage but also in related protection systems."

The Tokyo Cultural Heritage Research Institute is one of Japan's major institutions related to cultural heritage. Since 1930, it has been investigating and researching cultural heritage, intangible heritage, and folk heritage. Cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Administration is not new. They first signed a business agreement in 2008 and have promoted joint research and academic events. They also published a collection of materials titled "Korea-Japan Intangible Cultural Heritage."
