Kim Taeheum: "Livestock Industry Should Change So People Can Commute in Suits"
Chungnam National University, Yeonam University, and the Korea Institute for Animal Products Quality Evaluation Sign Agreement for Advanced Livestock Industry Development
Chungnam Province has taken steps to promote the advancement of the livestock industry, aiming for a future where people can "commute to work in suits."
Although Chungnam leads the nation in livestock numbers?with 420,671 Korean native cattle, 67,165 dairy cows, and 2,295,970 pigs?qualitative growth has been insufficient, highlighting the need to develop differentiated competitiveness.
On the 9th, the province held a 'Strong Advanced Livestock Industry Development Business Agreement Ceremony' at the provincial government building, signing a mutual cooperation agreement with Chungnam National University, Yeonam College, the Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Institute, and the Korea Animal Improvement Association to advance the livestock industry.
The universities will establish a Chungnam-style bull selection system and a smart ecosystem, while related organizations will provide necessary information and technology for livestock improvement and livestock product quality.
Governor Kim emphasized, "Now, the livestock environment must also change, and we must lead a new leap forward. Livestock farms should be clustered so that everything from production to slaughter and meat processing is done in a one-stop system, and the industry should be transformed so that people can commute to work in suits."
He added, "If four to five farms raising 10 to 20 animals each come together to form a corporation and operate jointly, we can develop into an advanced agricultural sector. By the end of this year, we will also create a fund to support livestock farmers."
