Uljin County Issues Preemptive Evacuation Order for Landslide Risk Areas
Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province implemented Emergency Duty Level 1 on the 8th, as the risk of landslides increased due to accumulated rainfall, and held an emergency inspection meeting presided over by the county governor with each department.
Using a system where each village is assigned a dedicated public official, patrols were conducted focusing on 33 areas previously affected by wildfires, and expanded to other regions with potential risks. Residents in areas where landslides could occur were preemptively evacuated.
The county has operated an initial response team since the heavy rain advisory stage to proactively protect the lives and property of its residents. Through an organic communication network with the voluntary disaster prevention team, village leaders, and village patrol units, the county has done its utmost in advance monitoring of high-risk areas.
