"Illegal Filming Is a Crime" ... Changwon Special City Launches Illegal Camera Inspections in Public Institutions
Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam will conduct illegal camera inspections in public institutions in Changwon from June 8 to September 27, for approximately three months.
This inspection is necessary to eradicate crimes related to the installation and use of illegal cameras in public institutions, as such crimes continue to occur.
Accordingly, the city will inspect all male and female restrooms, changing rooms, and shower rooms in public institutions such as City Hall, district offices, and local administrative welfare centers to create a safe environment free from concerns about illegal filming.
The inspection will be conducted using detection equipment and will proceed in three stages: 1) visually checking for suspicious objects, unidentified scratches, or holes that may indicate illegal filming; 2) searching for traces or areas of suspected installation using a radio frequency detector; and 3) conducting a detailed search of suspicious traces or areas using an infrared (lens) detector.
Choi Jongok, head of the Department of Women and Family, said, "Illegal filming is a crime that targets an unspecified number of people, and since the victims cannot be identified, anyone can become a victim. Through this inspection, we will do our best to prevent sex crimes such as illegal filming so that citizens can use public institution restrooms with peace of mind."
