Asan City Significantly Expands Idling Restriction Zones to 92 Locations
Public Parking Lots, Public Garages, and Attached Parking Facilities
Asan City in South Chungcheong Province announced that it will expand the number of restricted idling areas from just 2 to 92 locations.
Starting from the 4th, the city expanded the restricted idling areas, which were previously limited to two bus terminals, to include public parking lots, public garages, and annexed parking lots, operating in a total of 92 locations.
Within these restricted areas, idling is permitted for 2 minutes (when the temperature is between 5℃ and 25℃) or 5 minutes (when below 5℃ or above 25℃). If the time limit is exceeded, a first warning is issued, followed by a second penalty of 50,000 won.
Vehicles are exempt from the restrictions if the temperature is below 0℃ or above 30℃, or if they are refrigerated/freezer trucks, vehicles under maintenance, or emergency vehicles.
An Asan City official stated, "We will promote and provide administrative guidance through various media to ensure that citizens are well informed about the restricted idling areas."
