Hong Jun-pyo: "Han Dong-hoon's Hwaryangyeonhwa Days Were Hell for Us"
On the 7th, Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, criticized Han Dong-hoon, a candidate for the People Power Party leadership, again, saying, "Han Dong-hoon was the 'Hwaryangyeonhwa' (The Most Beautiful Moment in Life), but for us, the early days of the Moon Jae-in administration were like hell."
On the same day, Mayor Hong wrote on Facebook, "Back then, whenever I woke up, conservative right-wing figures lined up at the prosecution for summons. As the leader of the opposition party, I shed tears of blood," he wrote.
He continued, "Around 1,000 people close to me were summoned for political reasons, hundreds were arrested on political charges such as abuse of power, and two presidents we produced were also imprisoned for political reasons, with a heavy sentence of 35 years requested and found guilty," adding, "I was also investigated for 1 year and 6 months."
He said, "That was not a criminal investigation but a frenzied political investigation by the Moon Jae-in administration's hunting dogs, framing it as state affairs manipulation," and added, "Some media outlets that praised Han as the 'best prosecutor in Joseon' were part of the same faction at the time."
