Chinese Gambler Lost Money at Kangwon Land Casino
Sets Fire in Rage...Property Damage of 3 Million Won
A Chinese national was arrested by the police for setting fire to the Kangwon Land Hotel after losing money at the Kangwon Land Casino.
On the 4th, the Kangwon Fire Headquarters reported that a fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. on the 14th floor of the Kangwon Land Hotel in Sabuk-eup, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon Province. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes by the sprinkler system inside the room, but six people staying in nearby rooms inhaled smoke and had to receive treatment at the scene.
The fire department estimated property damage worth approximately 3 million won, noting soot inside the room and some burned furnishings. Suspecting arson, the police tracked the suspect through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and urgently arrested a 50-year-old Chinese national, Mr. A, who was staying at a nearby guesthouse at 8 a.m. the same day.
