A Public Official Drives a Government Vehicle in the Wrong Direction in a School Zone... An Elementary Student Injured in a Non-Contact Accident
Parents Expressed Intent to Withdraw Report
But Police Plan to Continue Separate Investigation
The police have launched an investigation after a report was received that a vehicle belonging to an administrative welfare center caused a non-contact accident while driving in the wrong direction in a school zone.
On the 1st, Yonhap News reported, "At around 5 p.m. on the 25th of last month, a report was received at the Gyeyang Police Station in Incheon that an elementary school student, A, was involved in an accident on a road near an elementary school in Gyeyang-gu."

The electric vehicle driving in the wrong direction was a shared vehicle belonging to an administrative welfare center in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. Although it did not make direct contact with the bicycle, it left the scene without taking any measures after the accident. The police confirmed through analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and vehicle registration checks that the driver was B, a public official in his 30s working at the administrative welfare center.
B reportedly told the police that he was unaware that an accident had occurred. Considering that this was a non-contact accident, the police plan to specifically investigate the causal relationship between B’s vehicle driving and A’s fall.

Meanwhile, A’s guardian has reportedly expressed the intention to withdraw the 112 emergency call. However, since the accident occurred within a school zone and there was evidence of the vehicle driving in the wrong direction, the police plan to continue a separate investigation.
