This festival was mainly attended by family groups. Visitors enjoyed mudflat experiences such as digging for clams in the mudflats, and there were long lines at the tasting and sales booths for Pungcheon eel, the best summer health food.
Additionally, people of all ages enjoyed catching slippery Pungcheon eels with their bare hands, and the water gun fight game “Goodbye Heat” provided tourists with fun memories by cooling off the summer heat in one go.
Besides these, attendees enjoyed various programs such as marine healing programs that heal the body and mind, and the Gochang Mudflat Trail Health Walking Contest, which promotes health while strolling through the beautiful Gochang mudflats.
In particular, the food corner operated by the Mandol Women’s Association received favorable reviews by offering shrimp tempura, clam kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup), seafood pajeon (green onion pancake), and cockle bibimbap at reasonable prices.
The festival committee secured over 100 more parking spaces compared to last year, installed sunshades throughout the venue, and created cooling rest areas where visitors could relax comfortably.
Sim Deok-seop, the county governor, said, “It was rewarding that many people who visited the Mandol Mudflat Festival could see, taste, and enjoy everything. We will prepare an even richer and safer festival next year.”
