Jeongeup-si Replaces LPG Cylinder Rubber Hoses with Metal Pipes
Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 26th that it will promote a project to replace LPG container rubber hoses with metal pipes for the safety of its citizens.
LPG containers are widely used by the elderly in towns and townships where city gas is not supplied, and the rubber hoses used in LPG containers are easily cut and deteriorated, increasing the risk of gas leakage accidents.
According to the "Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Management and Business Act," gas facilities used in homes must replace rubber hoses with metal pipes by 2030 and install additional safety devices such as gas container protection boxes.
Failure to comply will result in a fine of up to 2 million won.
Accordingly, the city will invest a total project cost of 35.75 million won to replace LPG rubber hoses with metal pipes and support the installation of fuse cocks, which are intermediate valves.
It will also support the replacement of pressure regulators and the installation of shading facilities.
The target households total 130, with a project cost of 275,000 won per household, of which 50,000 won is self-funded.
Previously, the city started the project in 2011 and completed facility improvements for 7,602 households, and since 2021, it has expanded the project target from vulnerable groups to general detached houses.
The construction will be carried out by four local gas facility companies visiting the households under the supervision of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation by October.
A city official said, "Through the LPG container user facility improvement project, we will prevent various safety accidents such as gas overheating and gas leakage and strive to enable citizens to live more comfortably and safely."
