Government Seeks Companies and Institutions with Reading-Friendly Management
Application for 'Reading Management Certification' Open Until the 31st of Next Month
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency are accepting applications for the 'Excellent Workplace for Reading Management Certification' from companies and institutions nationwide until the 31st of next month.
This project aims to share the value of reading and expand the number of readers by promoting a reading culture within workplaces. Reading-friendly management companies and institutions will be issued certificates in the name of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and will receive customized reading management consultations and support for book purchase expenses. The top sixteen organizations that have exemplary reading management practices will also be awarded the Minister’s Prize along with books, cultural gift certificates, and certification plaques.
The number of certified companies has been increasing every year. In the first year of introduction, 2014, there were only twenty. Last year, a record high of 206 organizations (101 new and 105 re-certified) were selected, an increase of fifty-two from the previous year.

Companies and institutions wishing to apply can access the reading management excellent workplace certification website to submit their applications. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will provide related information such as examples of excellent organizations, self-diagnosis, and how to write activity reports through an online business briefing session on the 11th of next month. After document and on-site evaluations and expert reviews, the results will be announced in October.
