Enhanced Water Cleaning 5-6 Times a Day from 6 AM to 6 PM
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 24th that it will strengthen road water cleaning to mitigate the urban heat island effect.
Starting this month, the district has deployed six water spraying trucks mainly on multi-lane roads where the watering effect is greater and work can be done more efficiently. The road water cleaning, which was previously conducted 2 to 3 times a day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., has been increased to 5 to 6 times a day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, road water cleaning is being carried out throughout the district, including major school routes with heavy foot traffic, areas around subway stations, side streets, traditional markets, and construction sites, in an effort to maintain a pleasant environment.

A district official said, “Starting in July, when a heatwave advisory is issued, we will deploy an additional 10 private water spraying trucks, operating a total of 16 water spraying trucks.” He added, “We will do our best to help residents enjoy a refreshing summer.”
