Russia: "US Notified Closure of Russian Visa Centers... Will Take Countermeasures Upon Implementation"
The Russian government stated that it will take corresponding countermeasures if the United States enforces its decision to close the Russian visa centers located in the U.S.
On the 22nd (local time), according to major Russian media, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, "If such measures are implemented, Russia will also take appropriate counteractions."
Earlier, Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to the U.S., told reporters that the U.S. had informed Russian diplomats about the closure of two Russian visa center offices in Washington and New York.
Antonov's remarks came amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Russia, coinciding with the North Korea-Russia summit and the ongoing Ukraine conflict.

Previously, on the 19th, Russian President Vladimir Putin, on a state visit to North Korea, signed a treaty with Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, establishing a "comprehensive strategic partnership" that includes military alliance-level cooperation.
