The Gyeongbuk Province Mayors and Governors Council (Chairman: Lee Kangdeok, Mayor of Pohang) held the ‘10th Regular Meeting of the 8th Popularly Elected Term’ at the Ganggu Health Vitality Center in Yeongdeok on the 21st, marking the end of the first half of the term.
On the 21st, the Gyeongbuk Province Mayors and County Governors Association (Chairman Kangdeok Lee, Mayor of Pohang) held the 10th regular meeting of the 8th elected term.
View original imageDuring the meeting, members engaged in in-depth discussions on the agenda item regarding the establishment of differentiated criteria for city and county corporate investment amounts for provincial subsidies for site facilities (Chilgok). The resolved agenda will be formally submitted to Gyeongbuk Province.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to reflect on the main achievements of the first half of the 8th popularly elected term, during which joint efforts were made to address key issues such as policy and regulatory improvements for mutual development among Gyeongbuk cities and counties, and the revision of unreasonable laws.
Lee Kangdeok, Mayor of Pohang, who served as chairman for the first half of the term, stated, “I would like to thank the mayors and governors for their active cooperation in improving the challenging circumstances faced by local governments, such as the crisis of local extinction. As we now enter the second half of the 8th popularly elected term, I will actively contribute to the mutual prosperity and development of Gyeongbuk cities and counties, focusing on the new chairman.”
On this day, Kim Joosoo, Governor of Uiseong, was elected as the chairman for the second half of the 8th popularly elected term and will lead the council for the next two years.
After the meeting, Ho Jin Kim, Director of Planning and Coordination at Gyeongbuk Province, provided an explanation and gathered opinions regarding the Daegu-Gyeongbuk administrative integration, which has emerged as a major regional issue.
