Plans for Improving Human Rights Management and Supply Chain Management
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) recently held the '2024 1st Human Rights Management Committee.'
The human rights impact assessment is a system that aims to protect and promote citizens' human rights by analyzing and evaluating the potential impact on human rights during administrative processes, both before and after implementation.
The Human Rights Management Committee, held on the 19th, was organized to review the appropriateness and improvement tasks of the human rights impact assessment conducted by an external professional organization.
During the meeting, various discussions were held to implement human rights management, including selecting improvement tasks in areas such as the establishment of a human rights management system, responsible supply chain management, and protection of human rights in the workplace. BMC plans to establish a human rights management improvement plan for the second half of the year, reflecting the opinions of experts.
The BMC Human Rights Management Committee consists of three internal members, including the head of the Planning and Management Division as the chairperson, and four external members. The external members are Won Hyungeun, representative of Saengmyeonggwa Pyeonghwa Gongdongchesaramdeul, Park Oesuk, former manager of the Busan Women's Hall, Lee Gyuhui, director of the Busan Human Rights Counseling Center, and Oh Jeongjin, professor at Pusan National University School of Law.
BMC has been conducting annual human rights impact assessments to identify and improve factors that may cause human rights violations. The corporation is striving to spread a culture of respect for human rights in the local community through initiatives such as the establishment of the BMC Human Rights Management Index, signing business agreements with the City Human Rights Center, and operating a human rights council with related organizations.
