The 20th Yeongdeok Beach National Marathon to Be Held on the 30th
Various Events Including a Signing Event by National Marathoner Lee Bongju, Number of Participants Doubles
The 20th Yeongdeok Beach National Marathon, the representative summer sports festival of Yeongdeok-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, will be held at Goraebul Beach on the 30th.
This event, hosted and organized by the Yeongdeok-gun Athletics Federation and sponsored by Yeongdeok-gun and the Yeongdeok-gun Sports Council, received applications from about 3,900 individuals and club teams as of the registration deadline on the 31st of last month, attracting twice as many marathon enthusiasts as last year.
Anticipating intense summer heat this year, the Yeongdeok-gun Athletics Federation has decided to cancel the full course category and is preparing the event with a focus on the safety and health of participants by organizing group warm-ups, operating shower and ice booths, assigning traffic and safety personnel along each course, and providing water stations.
Accordingly, the competition consists of three categories: half course, 10km, and 5km, all starting and finishing at Goraebul Beach.
In addition, the opening ceremony of this marathon will be hosted by marathon specialist MC Bae Dongsung, and Korea’s representative marathoner Lee Bongju will hold a fan signing event, along with various other events planned.
Kim Kwangyeol, the county governor, said, “I hope you will fully enjoy the pristine nature and unique courses offered by Blue Road, the best wellness tourist destination and a premium coastal trail, and become the protagonist of a healthy life.”
