Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has taken the lead in selecting the first ambassadors of the Han River. The Han River Ambassadors will be active for the next year under the name 'Great Han River Ambassadors' to widely promote the 'Great Han River Project,' one of Seoul City's key initiatives.
On the 20th, Seoul City announced that four teams, who won against a competition ratio of 120 to 1 in the citizen star audition 'Han River Rising Star,' will be appointed as the first ambassadors of the Great Han River. The appointment ceremony will be held this morning at Seoul City Hall.
'Han River Rising Star' is a star birth audition program newly introduced by Seoul City this year for citizens who dream of performing on stage. A total of 477 teams applied, and through the first and second preliminary rounds and the finals, the 1st to 3rd place winners and special award recipients were selected.
The Han River Ambassadors will not only perform on stages at Han River festivals such as the Summer Music Picnic of the 'Han River Festival Summer' held this summer, the 'Car-Free Jamsugyo Ttubok Ttubok Festival' in the second half of the year, and 'Reading Han River Park,' but will also be invited to Seoul City events to widely promote the beauty and excellence of the Han River.
The four teams appointed this time are the dance team 'Expert,' consisting of seven elementary and middle school students; the four-member indie band 'Pumba21,' which Koreanizes rock music to continue the lineage of Joseon rock; the female solo guitarist 'Kim Narin,' known for her dazzling technique and performance; and the singer-songwriter 'Go Woo-hyun,' who was born without a right hand but overcame the disability to play the guitar.
Seoul City aims to further promote the value of the Han River by additionally appointing various figures from fields such as the Han River’s charm, environmental protection, cultural and sports events, and citizen participation, starting with the first generation of 'Great Han River Ambassadors.' The city plans to create a sustainable future for the Han River together by encouraging active participation and cooperation from citizens.
