Gwangjin-gu Takes Action to Protect Heat-Vulnerable Groups... Providing Cooling Supplies
Support of One Fan per Household for 160 Low-Income Families with Income Below 120% of Median Standard
Welfare Planners Visit and Deliver Directly in Each District
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will provide cooling appliances, specifically fans, to 160 low-income households vulnerable to summer heatwaves.
The district operates a cooling appliance support program annually to help energy-vulnerable groups have a healthy summer and prevent heatwave damage. Especially this year, with average summer temperatures expected to be higher than usual, the number of households receiving support has increased compared to last year. Last year, cooling appliances were provided to 130 low-income households.
The recipients are low-income households residing in Gwangjin-gu with a standard median income of 120% or less, including basic livelihood security recipients. Welfare planners from each neighborhood will visit the eligible households in June to deliver the items directly.
The supported item is a seat fan preferred by vulnerable groups, equipped with a remote control function, allowing anyone, including elderly people living alone, to operate it easily without difficulty.
