Ewha Hakdang and Kim Hwallan's Family Sue Kim Junhyuk over 'Ewha Student Sexual Bribery Remarks'
"Ewha Womans University Image Damage and Insult to Women"
Rep. Kim "Apologized Multiple Times... Will Respond Strongly"
On the 18th, Ewha Hakdang filed a defamation lawsuit against Kim Jun-hyuk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who came under fire during the April 10 general election period for his past remarks about 'Ewha University students providing sexual bribes.'
The school corporation Ewha Hakdang (Chairman Jang Myung-soo) stated on the same day, "We have submitted a complaint to the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency against Assemblyman Kim Jun-hyuk on charges of defamation," and criticized, "Assemblyman Kim made false statements that severely damaged the image of President Kim Hwal-ran and the members of Ewha Womans University, and based on a discriminatory and distorted view of women that should not be held by a member of the National Assembly, he insulted not only Ewha Hakdang but all women."
On March 14th, at the Gyeonggi Provincial Council in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, Kim Jun-hyeok, the Democratic Party candidate for Suwon Jeong in the 22nd National Assembly election, announced his campaign pledges.

They added, "Considering the status of a member of the National Assembly and the impact of their statements, the responsibility is by no means light, and we hope for strict punishment by investigative agencies to prevent such acts from causing harm again."
The bereaved family of former President Kim also filed a defamation lawsuit against Assemblyman Kim on charges of posthumous defamation. The family reportedly stated, "He damaged the social and historical evaluation of the deceased, who devoted his entire life to women's education, and Ewha Womans University."
Subsequently, Assemblyman Kim responded through a statement on Facebook and other platforms on the same day. He began by saying, "I heard that the bereaved family of former President Kim and others have filed a posthumous defamation lawsuit against me. During the last general election, malicious attacks were made by partially editing remarks I made several years ago on YouTube."
Assemblyman Kim continued, "I have publicly apologized multiple times through SNS and my victory speech interview to many women and Ewha Womans University alumni who were unintentionally hurt by the expression 'sexual bribes.' However, even though the election is over and my legislative activities have begun, it has been confirmed today that a historian has distorted the facts as if I fabricated baseless statements, used the media, and filed additional lawsuits."
He claimed, "The remarks I made in the past on YouTube were not intended to insult or hurt all Ewha students but dealt with the pro-Japanese and anti-national acts of a figure named Kim Hwal-ran."

Previously, on August 14, 2022, Assemblyman Kim appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Kim Yong-min TV’ and said, "Kim Hwal-ran played a major role in sending comfort women to the military," and "During the U.S. military government period, Ewha Womans University students were sexually bribed to U.S. military officers." This fact caused a stir when it was revealed during the last general election.
