K-Anime Companies Thrive at Annecy Film Market in France
Business Consultations 210 Cases... Performance $16.6 Million
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 18th that they operated a Korean joint pavilion for four days at the 'Annecy International Animation Film Market,' which concluded on the 14th in Annecy, France, facilitating 210 business consultations.
The Korean joint pavilion included twenty-one production and distribution companies representing K-animation. Through business matching and on-site consultations, they achieved export consultation results worth 166 million USD (229.2 billion KRW).
This included seven companies such as Iyagi Nongjang, Studio TNT, and Dopara, which completed the KOCCA 'Animation Boot Camp.' All participated in pitching at the 'Partners Pitches,' where projects in the pre-production (pre-planning) stage were introduced, attracting high interest from global buyers.
Cho Hyun-rae, head of KOCCA, said, "This was an opportunity to reaffirm the competitiveness of domestic animation," adding, "We will continue to do our best to promote the excellence of K-animation worldwide and expand overseas business for domestic companies."
The Annecy International Animation Film Market is a film market operated by the Annecy Animation Festival. This year, about 6,600 animation industry professionals from ninety-one countries attended.

Meanwhile, five Korean works were officially invited to the Annecy International Animation Festival, drawing attention. These include 'Circle' directed by Jung Yumi, 'Agami' directed by Ahn Jae-hoon, 'Toemarok' directed by Kim Dong-cheol, 'The Pig That Survived Foot-and-Mouth Disease' directed by Heo Beom-wook, and 'The Monster' directed by Yang Ruby and Kim Bo-min.
