Melon Launches 'Edition M,' Popular Music Curation by Experts
14 Domestic Leading Music Critics Participate
Kakao Entertainment's music platform Melon announced that it will launch 'Edition M,' a human curation service that reinterprets classic songs and albums from Korea and abroad through Melon's unique perspective, on the 18th.
Edition M compiles classic albums encompassing both domestic and international music and offers them as Melon Magazine content and recommended song playlists. Domestically, it compiles classic albums and representative song playlists across six categories, including the history of Korean popular music from the 1950s, and selects classic albums from six genres?dance, ballad, indie, R&B, hip-hop, and more?covering the 1980s to 2010s.
For international music, Edition M will extensively release decade-by-decade classic songs and albums from the 1920s to the 2010s across seven genres, including pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop, J-pop, classical, and jazz.
To achieve this, Melon has formed the Edition M editorial team with various generations of experts, including leading domestic music critics such as Im Jin-mo, Kim Kyung-jin, and Hwang Deok-ho, as well as emerging critics like Jung Min-jae, Kim Do-heon, and Kim Yoon-ha. Edition M will introduce classic albums and genre-specific classic songs representing the history of popular music over 12 sessions across eight weeks, every Tuesday and Friday. This large-scale project provides music fans with 72 magazines and playlists carefully selected by experts by era and genre, as well as over 3,500 classic albums in total.
