Honorary Road Name Usage Extended from June 20, 2024 to June 19, 2029
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) will extend the usage period of the honorary road name 'Gang Gam-chan-daero,' designated in 2019 for the area around Nambu Sunhwan-ro, by 5 years.
An honorary road name is an additional name given to all or part of an existing road section for purposes such as attracting businesses and international exchange, reflecting the characteristics of the area's history and culture in the road name.
'Gang Gam-chan-daero' was designated in 2019 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of General Gang Gam-chan's victory at the Battle of Gwiju, aiming to enhance the Gang Gam-chan brand value, promote strong economic revitalization through business attraction, and raise awareness of the splendid cultural heritage to elevate the status of Gwanak-gu.
The usage section covers a 7.6 km stretch from Nambu Sunhwan-ro Siheung IC to Sadang Station, with the usage period originally set to expire on June 19 of this year.
Accordingly, the Gwanak-gu Address Information Committee decided to extend the usage of the honorary road name 'Gang Gam-chan-daero' for 5 years, from June 20, 2024, to June 19, 2029.
The district manages 24 honorary road name plaques and 120 guide signs installed at the start and end points and intersections along the 'Gang Gam-chan-daero' section, and is making efforts to promote 'Gang Gam-chan-daero' more effectively to residents by producing videos and posting them on the official YouTube channel.

District Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I hope that the extension of the usage of the honorary road name ‘Gang Gam-chan-daero’ will contribute to raising the status of Gwanak-gu,” and added, “We will do our best to widely promote the Gang Gam-chan brand to help revitalize the local economy.”
