Until the 23rd at Daehangno Theater Quad
The theater company Sagaetamsa is performing "Diving Board," an official selection of the 45th Seoul Theater Festival, at Daehangno Theater Quad until the 23rd.
The play "Diving Board" is a work by American playwright Malena Penikook. It is a coming-of-age drama about Annie, a 17-year-old diving athlete who is engulfed by an intangible fear after an injury, overcoming her anxiety together with her friends Tianan, Joanna, Nacho, and Coach Moreno.
The play calmly portrays the anxiety of adolescence toward intangible objects and the process of awakening and overcoming from within an egg from a feminine perspective. The theater company stated that they represent the intangible fear as the existence of "faceless men" in the performance.
Director Park Haeseon of Sagaetamsa explained, "Rather than expressing the fears of adolescent girls, this work contains the anxiety and fear that all modern men and women, young and old, possess, as well as the process of confronting and overcoming oneself."
