Chinese Football Commentator: "Son Heung-min, a Vile Hypocrite... Worse Than Lee Kang-in"
Live Commentary in Gyeonggi: Dong Ru's Fallacious Arguments
China failed to score a single goal and lost to South Korea, while a famous Chinese commentator criticized Son Heung-min (32), captain of the South Korean national football team, calling him a "vile hypocrite."

Earlier, the South Korean national football team, led by interim coach Kim Do-hoon, defeated China 1-0 in the 6th match of Group C in the 2nd round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers held at Seoul World Cup Stadium at 8 p.m. on the 11th. Son Heung-min, who played brilliantly against China, had to endure insults and jeers from away fans throughout the match. However, he remained composed, showing the '3' and '0' signs with both hands (referring to the score of the Korea-China match held last November) toward the Chinese spectators.
This further upset Chinese football fans. Even after the match, they responded by saying, "Son Heung-min is a perfect example of a Korean," adding, "He tries to appear generous, polite, and cultured, but in reality, he is vile to the bone. It is an unchanging national characteristic."
Commentator Dong Lu, who provided live commentary for the match, also joined in the criticism. According to local media reports, Dong Lu said, "Son Heung-min is a hypocrite. Definitely a hypocrite. He bullies the weak and fears the strong. Did Chinese fans jeer at him? Even when Son Heung-min was called 'FXCK' (an English curse word) in the Premier League, I never saw him react," claiming that while Son showed no reaction to jeers in the Premier League, he provoked China.
He also mentioned Lee Kang-in, saying, "He is much worse than Lee Kang-in, who knows how to love and hate," seemingly trying to recall the team's discord in February. Son Heung-min also comforted the Chinese goalkeeper who was crying after the defeat in this match, which became another target of criticism. It was said that "they acted as if they knew each other well."
Commentator Dong Lu also made absurd claims about Son Heung-min's 3-0 gesture. "South Korea was anxious in this match, and Son Heung-min was no different. He made the 3-0 gesture out of unbearable anxiety. This shows that he was anxious. If he wasn't anxious, who would try to fight with the crowd?" he said.

On the other hand, after the match, Son Heung-min explained the '3-0 gesture,' saying, "I didn't do anything to deserve being jeered at, so I couldn't accept such behavior in our home stadium. I felt like even our fans were being ignored. As a player of the Republic of Korea, I wanted to show something. I showed the score of the match we played through the gesture." He added, "The most important thing is that we won. Such things often happen in football. It's important to handle them without getting too worked up. I think I accepted it calmly without getting excited."
