US Navy Donates National Bird Eagle Statue
Opening of Navy Garden within the Unit by Naval Operations
First Donation of Eagle-Shaped Statue by US Forces in Korea
The U.S. Navy donated an eagle statue, the national bird of the United States, to our military. While the U.S. military has previously donated items such as trees, this is the first time they have donated an eagle-shaped statue.
According to military officials on the 14th, "Senior officers of the U.S. Naval Forces Korea pooled money to create and donate the eagle statue to the Navy Operations Command (hereafter NOC) Navy Garden."
On the same day, the NOC opened the 'Navy Garden,' a complex cultural and relaxation space within the unit. The event was attended by about 50 Korean and American service members, including NOC Commander Choi Seong-hyeok and U.S. Naval Forces Korea Commander Brigadier General Neil Koprowski. The eagle statue donated by the U.S. military was placed in the Navy Garden. The eagle is the national bird of the United States and symbolizes freedom and bravery. The eagle emblem is always engraved on the White House podium, the presidential briefcase, and various national events.
The Navy Garden installed within the NOC is a multipurpose space for Korean and American service members carrying out combined naval force missions. Originally, the site of the Navy Garden experienced repeated water accumulation during the rainy season. Therefore, after civil engineering work, the Navy Garden was established. The Navy Garden features a pond and fountain where the sound of water can be heard, with a walking path along them. Around the fountain, rose-shaped LED lights were installed to accommodate service members performing night missions.
