Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong emphasized this as he concluded his approximately two-week business trip to the United States from the 31st of last month to the 12th (local time).
On the 13th, Samsung announced that Chairman Lee met consecutively with CEOs of major U.S. big tech companies such as Meta, Amazon, and Qualcomm to discuss cooperation plans for the AI semiconductor supply chain. When meeting with Amazon, the world's number one cloud service company that officially entered the generative AI business in April last year, executives including Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun, head of the DS (semiconductor) division, also attended. Samsung aims to maximize synergy with AI big tech companies as the world's top memory semiconductor manufacturer.

Samsung Electronics stated on the 13th that Chairman Lee completed his approximately two-week U.S. business trip, covering the East Coast (New York, Washington) last week and the West Coast this week. In the first week, he met Hans Vestberg, CEO of Verizon, and political figures. In the second week, he met CEOs of major big tech companies in IT, AI, and semiconductor fields. He focused on expanding cooperation with client companies and establishing new cooperation models. By combining Samsung's and its clients' technological competitiveness in advanced fields such as AI, they sought mutually beneficial business strategies.
On the 11th (local time), Chairman Lee was invited to a one-on-one meeting at the home of Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, in Palo Alto on the U.S. West Coast. This was four months after the 'Seungjiwon meeting' arranged at Chairman Lee's invitation in February. The two discussed cooperation plans in future ICT industries such as AI, virtual reality, and augmented reality, as well as software (S/W) sectors. Since their first meeting at Zuckerberg's home in 2011, they have met eight times. Samsung Electronics plans to expand cooperation with Meta in the AI field. During his visit to Korea in February, Zuckerberg said, "Samsung, as a giant foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) company, holds an important position in the global economy," adding, "It could be a key point in cooperation with Samsung."
On the 12th, Chairman Lee met Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, at Amazon's headquarters in Seattle. Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun, Lee Jung-bae, head of the Memory Business Division, Han Jin-man, Vice President and head of DSA (DS America), and Choi Kyung-sik, President of North America, also attended. Chairman Lee and CEO Jassy shared market outlooks on core businesses such as generative AI and cloud computing and exchanged views on further cooperation. Since April last year, CEO Jassy has announced plans to actively participate in the generative AI business and is focusing on innovating cloud-based AI services. As the world's number one cloud service provider, Amazon is also a major customer of Samsung's next-generation memory semiconductors. Additionally, in the TV sector, Samsung Electronics has applied the next-generation image quality technology 'HDR10+' led by Samsung to its Fire TV since 2022.

On the 10th, Chairman Lee met Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, at Samsung Electronics DSA in San Jose, USA. They discussed expanding cooperation in the future semiconductor market, including AI semiconductors and next-generation communication chips. Qualcomm is a leading company in low-power computing and on-device intelligence, combining excellent wireless connectivity and high performance. The two companies have maintained a long-standing cooperative relationship. Samsung has equipped its mobile products with Qualcomm's cutting-edge Snapdragon platform. Recently, cooperation has expanded to AI PC and mobile platforms.
During his U.S. trip, Chairman Lee also met consecutively with global fabless (semiconductor design-specialized) system semiconductor companies to discuss expanding foundry business cooperation and manufacturing technology innovation for future semiconductor development.

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics plans to hold a 'Global Strategy Meeting' at the end of this month, attended by key executives from the set (DX) and component (DS) divisions as well as heads of overseas subsidiaries. It is likely to be held during the last week of this month (24th to 28th). Han Jong-hee, head of the DX division and Vice Chairman, and Jeon Young-hyun, Vice Chairman, will preside over the respective division meetings. An industry insider said, "The global network that Chairman Lee strengthened during his U.S. trip and the comprehensive cooperation efforts with big tech companies will evolve into concrete visions and business plans through the meeting, serving as a catalyst for overcoming crises and making a new leap forward."
