20s Man Arrested and Indicted for Swinging Blunt Object After Girlfriend's Breakup Notice

Supplementary Investigation Including Account Seizure and Search
A man in his 20s who went to the house of his ex-girlfriend, who had informed him of their breakup, and wielded a weapon has been indicted while in custody.
The Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Jeong-min) announced on the 13th that they have indicted a man in his 20s, Mr. A, on charges of attempted murder and special trespassing.
Mr. A is accused of injuring his ex-girlfriend by swinging a blunt weapon at her around 4 a.m. on the 18th of last month in a residential area in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.
After the case was transferred, the prosecution conducted supplementary investigations, including searching Mr. A’s residence and reviewing his bank transaction records, to clearly ascertain the motive behind the crime.
The investigation revealed that Mr. A planned the crime after receiving a breakup notice while burdened with debt from losses in cryptocurrency investments and experiencing deteriorated family relationships.
Mr. A prepared the weapon in advance and lured the victim outside her home by sending a package as a gift on the day of the crime. He then attempted to kill the victim by wielding the weapon, but the attempt was unsuccessful.

The prosecution stated, "We are making every effort to ensure substantial recovery for the victim by providing temporary housing, psychological treatment, and medical expense support."
