Wearing slippers at the press conference, he said, "The infected left toe is gradually getting better, but it still hurts. I am worried about the injury." Rahm, who transferred to LIV Golf last December, also withdrew from last week's LIV Golf Series Houston event due to an infection in his left foot.
He received an injection last week to relieve the pain from a cut between his toes, but it did not have much effect. Rahm explained, "For some reason, the infection occurred between my left pinky toe and the adjacent toe."
Through his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Rahm stated, "After consulting with numerous doctors and our team, we decided that withdrawing for the sake of my health is the best option," adding, "I am disappointed not to participate in the US Open, but I will do my best to return as soon as possible."
He is a player who has won 11 times on the PGA Tour and reached the world No. 1 ranking. Notably, he secured victories at the 2021 US Open and the 2023 Masters, maintaining his position as the strongest in men's golf. Rahm has yet to experience a win in LIV Golf this year.
